Currency
The currency system in Path of Exile revolves around a variety of different Orbs and Scrolls. Each currency item serves a specific function in the crafting and enhancement of a character's equipment, or allowing restructuring of the character's passive skill tree in the case of the Orb of Regret.
Currency Items
Currency items can be found as drops from monsters or chests, bought directly from different vendors in town, or received through the use of the vendor recipe system by trading specific configurations of items to any town vendor. Currency items play a large role in the player to player trading system, with rare orbs able to be traded for powerful equipment, or even other types of orbs that a player might need at the time for crafting.

Jeweller's Orbs can be found from slain enemies and Arcanist's Strongboxes. If an item has some quality, each 1% quality improves the result by 1%. The sockets of an item reforged by a Jeweller's Orb also come with random links and colors. A Jeweller's orb will always roll a different number of sockets than the item had originally, but will not reroll an item with maximum sockets. In general the exact chances of obtaining a given number of sockets is unknown, but in the case of weapons the following is known:
*These chances are specifically for weapons. When going for 6 sockets on Body armour and Two-handed weapons, if one is risk-averse and wants to avoid bad luck, one can instead use the Crafting Bench recipe found in the Caldera tier 16 endgame Map. With the caveat that it comes at a slightly higher average cost. Chromatic Orb is a currency item that can be used to re-roll the colour of sockets on a weapon or piece of armour. SpendingChromatic Orbs are primarily used to change the colours of sockets on an item. Sockets are more likely to roll a colour corresponding to the attributes of the equipment being altered. The higher the attribute requirements, the more likely it is to roll the relevant colour: red sockets for Strength, green sockets for Dexterity, and blue sockets for Intelligence. It's only possible to get red, blue or green sockets using this orb; for white sockets it's necessary to use a Vaal OrbVaal OrbStack Size: 20Corrupts an item, modifying it unpredictablyRight click this item then left click an item to corrupt it. Corrupted items cannot be modified again.. If one either wants to avoid randomness, or wishes to obtain a specific colour combination that is unlikely on a certain item (e.g. getting all red sockets on an item requiring high intelligence), one can instead use the Crafting Bench recipe found in the Delve mine. When obtaining socket colours that an item is already biased towards (e.g. obtaining red sockets on a chest piece requiring high Strength), using Chromatic Orbs manually is less costly than using the Bench. On the other hand, for obtaining a socket colour that an item is biased against (e.g. obtaining green sockets on a chest piece requiring high Strength), using Chromatic Orbs manually is typically much more costly than using the Bench. Lua error in Module:Item_acquisition at line 423: Item search result unexpectedly has no name. Like most currency items, Chromatic Orbs can be dropped by slain monsters, chests, and destructible containers. They also drop from Arcanist's Strongboxes. One can also obtain Chromatic Orbs directly from vendors. The first town NPC who sell the orb is Yeena of Act 2. Chromatic Orbs can also be obtained by vendoring an item with one socket of each colour (red, green, blue) linked together. This is one of the most common ways to obtain Chromatic Orbs. The item's quality increases the chances of obtaining more sockets.. Six-linked items can also be vendored for 20x Orbs of Fusing. It can also created by using beastcrafting recipe from Craicic Sand Spitter. SpendingOrbs of Fusing are primarily used to modify the linked sockets on an item. If an item has some quality, each 1% quality improves the result by 1%. While the chance of obtaining three or four linked sockets is relatively high, the chance of obtaining five or six linked sockets is very low, and on average requires hundreds or even thousands of attempts. A test involving 100 000 Orbs of Fusing concluded that the chance for an Orb of Fusing to six-link a six-socketed, 20% quality item is approximately 0.1% (1 in 1000). (More precisely, there is a 95% chance that the average number of orbs needed to create a six-link is between 836 and 1244.)[1] This translates into a ~77% chance to six-link within 1500 Orbs of Fusing, and a 5% chance that it will take more than 3000.[2] This means it is statistically not worthwhile to use the Crafting Bench recipe on a 6-link instead of using Orb of Fusing manually, but it is still an option to consider for risk-averse players to avoid bad luck. As bad RNG can hamper your economy severely at the start of a new league. And the time/currency needed to beat the odds on a craft with such a low chance of success is staggering due to the sheer volume of Orb of Fusing needed. Note that nowadays, you can quality the item up to 30% to increase the odd to get a 6-link, but the argument on paying one off on Crafting Bench to average out "bad luck" still hold. Historically, lead developer Chris Wilson has stated that the odds for six linked sockets were very close to 1/1500.[3] Note that this was prior to the item quality effect change from version 2.2.0 though, which means the consumed quality back then was able to improve these odds by "more than double".[4] An Orb of Fusing will not reroll the links of a 6-socket & 6-linked item, nor will it reroll the links of a 6-linked item.[5] These crafting options are available on the Crafting Bench:
The 6-link Crafting Bench recipe can be found in a T15 Map. The location shuffled every leagues so that make sure to check the hint in the Crafting Bench. Lua error in Module:Item_acquisition at line 423: Item search result unexpectedly has no name. UsageExalted Orbs add a random explicit modifier to a rare item. They do not affect any other modifiers. If a modifier is present on the rare item before usage, that modifier cannot be added by an Exalted Orb. SpendingExalted Orbs are primarily used to craft rare items, with two main uses. The first is through direct use of the orb, adding a random affix to a rare item that has at least one empty affix. If possible, it is usually best to craft an unwanted modifier from the crafting bench to stop it from rolling and increase the chances of adding a desirable mod. The other use is to add high-end affixes through the crafting bench by paying a fixed amount of Exalted Orbs. In some cases, Exalted Orbs can be used in conjunction with crafted modifiers to force particular modifiers on items. Some examples include adding +1 to Level of Socketed Gems to Bows after crafting Cannot roll Attack Modifiers, and adding +1 to All # Skill Gems on Amulets after crafting Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers, Cannot roll Attack Modifiers, and a final blocking mod depending on the specific gem level modifier. Before Version 3.19.0, Exalted Orbs were the "gold standard" currency for trading high-value items between players, and it was rare for players to use them to add mods to items. This was due to their relatively low supply, and high demand in the adding of powerful meta-crafting mods to items using the crafting bench. In patch 3.19.0, the crafting recipes were changed to require Divine Orbs instead, altering the demand of both Exalted and Divine Orbs and effectively switching their values. The relatively low cost of Exalted Orbs encourages players to use them for their regular purpose. See also: Currency creation and trading

This page is about the currency item. For the passive skill, see Blessed. For another passive skill, see Blessed Rebirth.
Lua error in Module:Item2/core at line 814: Duplicate metadata id "Metadata/Items/Currency/CurrencyRerollImplicit" on page "Blessed Orb". Blessed Orb is a currency item that can be used to re-roll values of the implicit modifiers on a piece of equipment. (This means the top values of an item above the line and not the bottom 6 values) This can only be used on an item that actually has implicit modifiers that can have a range of values. MechanicsA Blessed Orb re-rolls the implicit modifier of an item. It cannot be used on items without implicit modifiers or whose implicit modifiers do not have a range of values. They can be used on items with special implicits, such as synthesised items items with Eldritch implicit modifiers. They cannot be used to alter implicit modifiers on corrupted items, which prevents the user of Blessed Orbs on it. Because of their limited impact and somewhat uncommon rarity, Blessed Orbs are better used for items that already have desirable explicit modifiers and for meeting stat breakpoints like capped resistances and attribute requirements when needed. Blessed Orbs can not roll the same implicit value that the original item had. If the current implicit value is low, then on average you have better odds of rolling a high implicit value, and vice versa. Blessed Orbs can also be used to reroll the implicit values on Expedition Logbooks. Lua error in Module:Item_acquisition at line 423: Item search result unexpectedly has no name. Randomize Values
Lua error in Module:Item2/core at line 814: Duplicate metadata id "Metadata/Items/Currency/CurrencyModValues" on page "Divine Orb". Divine Orb is a currency item that can be used to re-roll the values of all random explicit modifiers on a piece of equipment. (much lower value) and Mirror of KalandraMirror of KalandraStack Size: 10Creates a mirrored copy of an itemRight click this item then left click an equipable non-unique item to apply it. Mirrored copies cannot be modified. (much higher value). MechanicsDivine Orbs are high-value currency that play a crucial role in the in-game economy. Because of this, it is regarded as the "gold standard" currency for trading high-value items between players, including chase items like the HeadhunterHeadhunter For powerful or wealthy players looking to use Divine Orbs on powerful items, there are two primary methods to consume them. The first is through direct use of the orb, rerolling the values of an item's modifiers. This can be used to optimize the modifier values of a well-rolled rare item, potentially increasing its power and value. It can also be used on certain unique items where the modifier value is very important to the item, such as Mageblood'sMageblood Their other purpose is to add meta-crafting mods through Crafting Bench by paying a fixed amount of Divine Orbs. This allows crafters to safely preserve targeted modifiers on items, or block certain mods from being rolled when they add or change affixes. It also can be used to allow an item to have multiple crafted mods, a safer way of creating a very powerful - albeit not top-tier - item if it already has a few powerful affixes. Divine Orbs re-roll the values of explicit values of modifiers. This can only be used on magic, rare, or unique items. Only the values of affixes that have a range of values will be randomized. A Divine Orb will not change the tier of the affix; it will only re-roll within its current tier. When a Divine Orb is used on a legacy variant of a unique item, affixes will re-roll to the new range of values.[2] When using on a magic or rare item, the affix will re-roll assuming the new range of the same tier. If a new modifier was added to a unique item, the new modifier will not spawn by using a Divine Orb. There are some exceptions, such as WillowgiftWillowgift A Divine Orb does not change a unique item's Style Variant (for example, Doryani's Invitation and Atziri's Splendour). Certain item ranges also may be undivinable, making them distinct variants. Usually, the divinable and undivinable mod values can be viewed by to turning on advanced modifier view (e.g. on PC, the default keybind is Alt). Lua error in Module:Item2/core at line 814: Duplicate metadata id "Metadata/Items/Currency/CurrencyDuplicate" on page "Mirror of Kalandra". A Mirror of Kalandra (often simply referred to as a Mirror) is a basic currency item that can be used to create a mirrored duplicate of any piece of non-unique equipment, non-corrupted item that is not itself a duplicate. The duplicated item is identical to the original, except it cannot be modified with currency items in any way, save for the use of a Reflective Oil on amulets. It is labeled as a mirrored item and its image is reversed. Like regular items, there is no restriction on duplicates being dropped, traded, or sold to vendors. Mirrors are one of the rarest and most valuable items in Path of Exile, and attaining one either through a natural drop or through trading is considered a pinnacle achievement. This is partially signified through its use in the Path of Exile logo, which incorporates a mirror within its design. SpendingDue to their extreme rarity, a Mirror of Kalandra is only used to duplicate the absolute best rare items available, as the mirror will be consumed on use. Players that own these top rare items will provide "Mirror service" to players looking to use their Mirrors. Usually, the Mirror is given to the Mirror service provider, the item is duplicated, and then the duplicate item is then traded back. This process typically includes a "Mirror fee", to be paid to the Mirror service provider, as well as some exchange of collateral, so that the original Mirror owner is insured against having their Mirror stolen. Typically, players that find Mirrors will be unable to use them properly, both because they cannot afford mirror fees to duplicate top items, and also because they have little use for having a single item that is the absolute best of its kind. It is often more economical to trade away a Mirror of Kalandra in order to eventually obtain many very good items, rather than using it to obtain a single item that may only be marginally better. Mirrors of Kalandra can also be used to purchase unique fishing rods from vendors.[citation needed] This is not recommended, as these can usually be purchased from other players for much lower prices. Currency Exchange Resources
Exchange rates between different currency items is largely dependent on the item's scarcity and the demand for it by players willing to trade. Due to the continuously fluctuating nature of the Path of Exile economy, it is too impractical to keep an updated table of currency exchange rates here. Instead, please refer to these tools and resources:
- ExileStats Currency Guide (exileex.com)
- Exchange rates are determined solely by community input. Simple interface. No registration required. No advertising.
- Currency Exchange Rates (poeex.info)
- Users can suggest changes to exchange rates, but it is not dynamically updated and is subject to the admin's discretion. No registration required. Advertising is present.
- Path of Exile Toolkit's Currency Parser (poetoolkit.com)
- Tool for converting between different types of currency. Currently uses poeex.info for exchange rates[1].
- Currency Calculator (poecalc.com)
- Tool for converting between different types of currency. Default rates are rough estimations but can be set manually.

Quick note on vendors and player economy
Vendor prices are a base value for comparisons, player market value will vary. Since players can't downgrade 1 Orb of Fusing into 8 Orbs of Alteration, they may be willing to sell them for less. High-level players will tend to accumulate rarer currencies, and when they begin rolling maps and running them, may run out of smaller denominations such as wisdom scrolls and alts.
Don't forget that barter trading is not just what it is worth, it is also what you are willing to pay.
