Tainted Chaos Orb is a currency item that unpredictably either reforges a corrupted item with new random properties or removes all of its modifiers, downgrading its rarity if possible.
If the Tainted Chaos Orb removes all modifiers, the item's rarity changes to Normal, completely preventing it from being modified through normal means. However, fractured mods will not be removed, leaving the item at the lowest eligible rarity. For items with one fractured prefix and/or one fractured suffix modifier, this results in a magic item; for items with at least two fractured prefixes or two fractured suffixes (only obtainable in permanent leagues), this results in a rare item. This latter case prevents the item from being downgraded in rarity, allowing it to be safely rerolled using Tainted Chaos Orbs.
