Janus Perandus is one of the 18 Immortal Syndicate members. He is a descendant of Chitus Perandus and a member of the Perandus family.

Lore

"

You have heard of the famed Perandus family, I have no doubt. Wealthy and powerful and responsible for putting Malachai in position to bring Wraeclast to ruin all those centuries ago. Though Emperor Chitus is the most famous of the Perandus family, some remnants of his vile bloodline linger even still.

Janus was one such remnant. He too was orphaned, but with the Perandus coffers dry and the Perandus name worth its weight in gold, no one took him in. No one except my akhara.

That he is the only other survivor, and is now a powerful member of the Immortal Syndicate leaves no doubt in my mind that it was he who sold us out.

If there is but one silver lining in all of this, it is that I may get to sink my blades into his flesh over, and over, and over again.

"

- Jun "Janus Perandus" dialogue

"

The Cinderswallow Urn. Takes me back to the days when Janus Perandus, Chitus' great-grandson, joined the Order of the Djinn. Somehow, most of the Order ended up being dispatched, which allowed Catarina to pilfer the Horns of Kulemak from the Forbidden Vault. Catarina then used the Horns to resurrect the dead – without them becoming Undying – and established the Immortal Syndicate. Janus, of course, has joined the noble ranks of the Immortal Syndicate. I'm a little envious, truth be told.

I'm going to kill you Janus... Just not yet.

"

- Jun (after the player allow Janus to escape)

Jun speculated that Janus is the traitor who sold out the Order of the Djinn to the Immortal Syndicate. The Syndicate murdered every other member of the Order except Jun.

Version history

Version Changes
3.24.0
  • [Ruthless-specific This patch note only applies to Ruthless mode and does not affect the main game mode.]:
    • Janus' Research Safehouse reward is now a stash of Essence Scarabs.
3.22.0
  • Stun Immunity has been removed from many Bosses in Path of Exile. This includes but is not limited to Atziri, Argus, The Vaal Omnitect and Betrayal Targets. Some Bosses now have specific skills that cannot be stunned, or cannot be interrupted. Kitava is still unable to be stunned.
3.20.0
  • Pinnacle bosses, Map bosses, Incursion architects, Betrayal targets, Breachlords and others no longer have 33% or 66% less effect of curses on them respectively.
3.16.0
  • Safehouse now contains Expedition artifacts if Janus is stationed in Research. Safehouse now contains Expedition Scarabs if Janus is stationed in Intervention. [Undocumented This change was not documented by any official sources. It was discovered through player testing or datamining.]
3.14.0
  • Modifiers that are unveiled through Jun are now more powerful than before. Previously, when an item was unveiled, the veiled modifier added to the item would be equal to the highest tier modifier available on the Crafting Bench. Now, the modifier being unveiled no longer counts as a crafted modifier and will be stronger than any craftable veiled modifier.
3.9.0
  • Monster resistances throughout the game have been reviewed and made more consistent. In many cases this has resulted in more resistances on monsters.
3.6.0
  • Bosses which previously had 60% or 80% less effect of curses on them now have 33% or 66% less effect of curses on them respectively. This includes map bosses, Incursion architects, Betrayal targets, Breachlords, Shaper, Elder and others.
  • In 3.6.0, Jun is introduced in Highgate in Act 9.[1] Thus, Janus now can be encountered from Act 9 onwards only.
  • Several veiled modifiers now have fewer tiers. Low tiers contribute more towards unlocking higher tiers, however it will, on average, take more unveils to unlock the highest tier.
3.5.0
  • Introduced to the game.
