The Crafting Bench lets players craft a modifier into equipment or modify sockets and links at the cost of some currency. It can be found in the player's hideout.

Mechanics

Typically, only one crafted modifier may be added to an item; the crafted modifier is shown in a brighter colour than regular mods. Crafting a mod follows the normal affix rules. Specifically:

  • The item cannot already have a mod of that type.
  • The item must have a prefix or suffix slot open as appropriate. This means that a second prefix or suffix cannot be crafted onto a magic item, nor a fourth prefix or suffix onto a rare item.

Players can remove a crafted mod from an item using the crafting bench for the cost of an Orb of ScouringOrb of ScouringStack Size: 30Removes all modifiers from an itemRight click this item then left click on a magic or rare item to apply it.. If attempting to use a craft on an item that already has a crafted modifier, the craft will attempt to replace the current crafted modifier for the cost of an additional Orb of Scouring. This cannot replace crafted modifiers that are fractured, if the item has multiple crafted modifiers, or if the item is corrupted, mirrored, or unmodifiable.

There are also recipes which modify the number, links, or colours of sockets on the item. Players can use socket-modifying recipes on corrupted equipment, which will additionally cost a number of Vaal OrbsVaal OrbStack Size: 20Corrupts an item, modifying it unpredictablyRight click this item then left click an item to corrupt it. Corrupted items cannot be modified again. equivalent to the craft's default cost.

The crafting bench will use currency in your inventory, then attempt to use currency in your stash tab(s) starting with the leftmost tab.ll.

Socket coloring with the Crafting Bench (Vorici method)

Crafting recipes that modify socket colours and links will modify sockets following socket order, as shown below. Socket colour crafts can only modify sockets 1-3:

When modifying the number of sockets, the sockets that were not affected (e.g. sockets 1-3 when going from 3 sockets to 6) will retain their colours and not be rerolled. This trick can be used to repeatedly use alternating socket number crafts to repeatedly add and remove a socket until the desired colour socket is obtained; this allows crafting of off-colour sockets (e.g. red/blue sockets on a dexterity base item) for a significantly reduced cost than rerolling the colours using Chromatic OrbChromatic OrbStack Size: 20Reforges the colour of sockets on an itemRight click this item then left click a socketed item to apply it.s or socket colour crafts. The socket colour craft can be used to deterministically get the first three colours before starting. This method can get expensive for getting 6 off-colours, but guarantees the preservation of other sockets between each step. This method is referred to as the "Vorici method"[1], referencing the name of an NPC that originally unlocked these crafts in an older version of the game.

Crafting recipes are discovered in various locations across multiple contents. Most of them can be found in the campaign Acts, The Labyrinth, and maps.

Version history

Between version 3.26.0 and version 3.26.0c Hotfix 5, it was temporarily possible to use the "Reroll the Rarity of a non-Unique item" craft to create otherwise unobtainable versions of items, such as unique items with synthesised implicit modifiers, and items (including unique items) with an Abyssal socket without the Has 1 Abyssal Socket modifier. These items were not deleted after the hotfix and are now legacy variant items that can only be obtained through trade.

  • The "Item drops on Death if Equipped by an Animated Guardian" Crafting Option has been removed. This modifier on existing items is no longer functional.
  • Maps on the Atlas screen now show uncollected crafting recipes.
  • You can now use Ctrl + Click on options in the Crafting Bench interface to apply the craft without having to click the 'Craft' button.
  • Physical Attack Damage Leeched as Life Modifiers on Weapons now scale from 2% to 4.5% (from 0.2-1.2). The level life leech modifiers appear on weapons has been lowered from level 50 to level 20.
  • The Physical Attack Damage Leeched as Mana Modifier on Weapons is now 2.6% to 3.2% (from 0.2-0.4%)
