A Scroll of Wisdom is a common currency item that can be used to identify magic, rare, or unique items and certain strongboxes. This reveals their modifiers, and in the case of items, allows them to be equipped.

Obtaining

Advice

It is often suggested for players to keep a stack of Scrolls of Wisdom in their inventory in order to identify items or strongboxes without needing to return to town first.

While many Strongboxes are of normal rarity and do not need to be identified, occasionally strongboxes will come with additional "unidentified modifier" text when hovered over. While it is not necessary to identify the chest before opening it, using a Scroll of Wisdom and applying it to the chest (like any other item in the inventory) will grant prefixes to the strongbox which may improve loot.

Spending

• If you have plenty of Scrolls of Wisdom, identifying a rare item before selling it to a vendor is generally considered worthwhile as they have a large number of modifiers which provides Alteration ShardsAlteration ShardStack Size: 20A stack of 20 shards becomes an Orb of Alteration.
  Shift click to unstack. when sold, increases currency-fragment outcome. Magic items are not usually worth identifying due to their low number of modifiers.
• Vendors sell normal low-level armour, shields, and weapons for 1 Scroll of Wisdom each where requirements are no greater than Level 6. Nessa, Yeena, and Clarissa sell low-level magic wands and normal belts for 2 Scrolls each, and normal flasks, rings, and Portal Scrolls for 3 Scrolls each. The first few gems (early levels 1-3) are available for scrolls also.
