Fenumal Plagued Arachnid (also known as split beast or FPA), is a type of Bestiary monster. It always appears as a capturable red beast and rare monster. It can be captured by the player with the help of Einhar.
This beast can be used to "split" rare items into two with beastcrafting. Using this beastcrafting recipe is typically called "beast splitting" an item.

Using a Fenumal Plagued Arachnid to split an item will result in the Split tag being added to both items, preventing them from being split further. Aside from this restriction, Split items can be crafted normally.
Mechanics
Splitting a rare item into two can turn one or both copies into a magic item depending on the remaining mod count. The resulting items keep the quality, number of sockets, colour of the sockets and socket links of the original item.

After the changes in version 3.14.0, it is no longer possible to make infinite copies of items as split bases cannot be restored to their non-split state.
