Tsoagoth, The Brine King is the final boss of Act 6, located in the Brine King's Reef. Defeating him is part of the main quest The Brine King.

Strategy

Tsoagoth is a challenging boss to strategise for, as his abilities intentionally remove the option of kiting (running out of damage zones) from the player. This boss acts as a stat check for character builds. Without adequate lightning and cold resistance, you are highly likely to die instantly by a combination of lightning strikes and orbs of water.

In order to deal with this, if resistances are far below the cap of 75%, temporarily equip a Topaz Ring/Sapphire Ring or Topaz Flask/Sapphire Flask, in addition to having at least 1000 life and good life flasks.

Abilities

The stage and abilities change as the fight progresses.

At 100% health

Slam

Tsoagoth raises his claw and whacks the ground, creating a medium-ranged shockwave.

Cleave

Tsoagoth is capable of attacking in an arc. It applies the Maim status, reducing movement speed by 30% for 4 seconds.

Tidal Rush

Tsoagoth enters a defensive stance for 5 seconds, gaining 80% damage reduction, and damaging nearby enemies with cold damage. During this period, Tsoagoth is 40% slower, can only melee, and will constantly summon Brinespawn.

At 75% health

Flood Arena (1)

Upon reaching 75% health, Tsoagoth shrinks the arena with tidal waves. He is untargetable while the stage is shrinking. Tidal waves apply a debuff Tidal Wave on contact. For the duration, lightning will strike the ground, while orbs of water jump out of the waves. Even after the phase ends, orbs of water will occasionally continue to come out of the waves. The arena returns to a larger size, although smaller than it was originally.

Upheavel

He casts a spell on the ground, causing multiple bursts of cold damage in an area of effect.

At 50% health

Flood Arena (2)

Upon reaching 50% health, Tsoagoth shrinks the arena again, more than before.

At 25% health

Flood Arena (3)

Upon reaching 25% health, Tsoagoth shrinks the arena yet again, and more than the previous time. In this final phase of the fight, Tsoagoth will no longer use Tidal Rush. Instead, orbs of water and lightning will constantly strike the ground in random places until the end.

Lore

The Brine King is the god for the sailors according to Bestel. Tsoagoth is its Azmerian name.

Weylam Roth called him Lord of Salt and Scale. According to his granddaughter, Lilly Roth, the pirates perform rituals on full moon such as human sacrifice in order to please him.
