A Sand Spitter

A sand spitter is a type of beast monster typically found in coastal areas of Wraeclast. They use projectile attacks and sometimes burrow under the ground until approached. Sand spitters generally resist lightning damage.

Sand spitter sometimes emerge from shield crabs as their second phase. Note that in-universe biologist (or probably Einhar, as he gave the player the Bestiary) still classified sand spitters and shield crabs as two different genera. And due to game coding, the depletion of the health of the first phase may still trigger on death effect of skill gem and item effect of the player character.

Sand spitters are a crustacean-insect hybrid species that plague the beaches and cliffs of Wraeclast, able to burrow underground to set up an ambush and can fire projectiles to injure and incapacitate their prey.
