Fortify is a buff that grants the player 20% less damage taken from hits for 4 seconds.[1] This does not apply to damage over time, since it does not hit.
Maximum fortify effect
Increasing fortify effect by 400% will provide 100% less damage taken from hits. Up to 504% increased fortify effect can be attained by combining all of the following:
- 120% from the master crafted mod 120% increased Effect of Fortify on you while Focussed, but only while you have Focus
- 100% from a nearby Dread BannerDread BannerAoE, Spell, Duration, Aura, Physical

#% less Damage taken modifiers are calculated after armour, resistances, and endurance charges.[4]
You can also get a Fortify buff through an amulet anointment called Hardened Scars, which grants Fortify during any life/hybrid flask effect. Furthermore Hybrid Flasks with the EnduringEnduring

66% reduced Amount Recovered prefix allow for fortify to persist for the entire flask duration, even after you have have reached full life.
