Increased Area of Effect is a support gem. This gem will increase the radius of any areas of effect produced by the linked skill. For a list of skills that feature an area of effect, see AoE skills.

Maximum 3 Firestorms at a timePlace into an item socket of the right colour to gain this skill. Right click to remove from a socket. has two areas of effect, one which defines the area that the fireballs can fall in, and another which defines the area in which the individual fireballs deal damage. Using Increased Area of Effect with Firestorm will result in larger fireballs, but spread out over a larger area.

If linked to a skill that creates a minion, totem, trap, or mine, this gem will increase the radius of any AoE skills used by the summoned ally. For instance if a Necromancer is raised as a spectre, any curses it casts will have a larger AoE. Monster auras on rare monsters are not skills, they're an inherent property of the monsters, and will not be affected by this gem.

The gem will not affect the trigger radius of a trap or mine, or a totem's range.

It now grants “Supported Skills have 0-10% increased Area of Effect” and “Supported Skills deal 0-20% reduced Damage”. Quality on the Divergent Area of Effect Support now grants “Supported Skills have 0-5% increased Area of Effect” (previously 0-10%).
2.6.0	Now grants 30% increased area of effect at level 1 (from 20% increased radius of area skills), up to 49% increased area of effect at level 20 (from 39%). This is a significant reduction to the area of effect provided by the gem.
