When corrupting these 2+ implicit items, there is a chance that the corrupted implicit will replace the otherwise useless Gilded Fossil implicit. Because the Gilded Fossil has no mechanical uses other than adding to the item's vendor price, adding it to an item will give it the potential to keep one or more useful implicit modifiers while corrupted. Corrupted is a special modifier. Corrupted items and strongboxes cannot be altered further with most crafting methods, including being restored with an Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Imprint"[1]. There exists limited ways of modifying corrupted items.

Corrupting uncorrupted items

  • Items the player uses a Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Vaal Orb" on will be corrupted and may be otherwise changed in the process. Items contained within a corrupted strongbox become corrupted as if a Vaal Orb was used on each of them.

  • Scrolls of Wisdom can now be used on items that are Corrupted. As a result of this, most items that previously dropped identified now drop unidentified.
  • Flasks can now be corrupted using Vaal Orbs, adding a random quality value from -10% to +10%.
  • The corruption outcome for Maps that unidentified the item has been replaced with a corruption outcome that adds an Implicit.
