Herald of Agony is a heraldskill gem. When activated it reserves mana and grants a buff that gives a chance to inflict poison on enemies. Whenever the user poisons an enemy, it grants Virulence and summons an Agony Crawler minion, which becomes stronger with more stacks of Virulence.
Virulence is gained by poisoning enemies, 1 for each poison. Poisoning while at 0 Virulence grants 2 Virulence instead. Alternate quality gems, labyrinth helmet enchantments and unique threshold jewels are all systems that were trying to subtly modify the behaviour of skills. With this expansion these have been combined into a new system called Transfigured Gems that allows us to fully achieve the goal of these three systems, and then some.
Herald of Agony's quality now provides +0-5 to Maximum Virulence, instead of 0-20% increased Minion Movement Speed.
Anomalous, Divergent and Phantasmal Quality Gems have been removed from the game. Existing alternate Quality Gems now have the base Quality effect found on the respective Gem.
The Divine Font at the end of the Labyrinth is now a gem crafting device that can modify your skill and support gems. (Previously enchant helmet, gloves or boots) Existing items with Labyrinth enchantments are not affected.
The damage and life scaling values for minions have been adjusted. Generally speaking, minion life and damage is unchanged in the very early game, roughly 30% lower in mid acts, roughly 20% lower at level 20 of the minion skill, and roughly 10% lower at level 30 of the minion skill.
Agony Crawler now gains 2% increased Attack Speed per Virulence you have at gem level 1 (unchanged), up to 4% at gem level 20 (previously 3%).
