Proximity Shield is a defensive area of effect ability used by a monster, taking the form of a dome with the user at its center. The user and their allies within the shielded area are protected from direct damage from enemies outside the shield.

Mechanics

A Proximity Shield removes the damage of hits coming from enemies outside the shield. It does not physically obstruct objects or projectiles like a Frost WallFrost WallSpell, Duration, Cold

To counter proximity shield monsters, the player can:

Several variations of proximity shield exist:

  • The Temporal Proximity Shield modifier can occur on enemies randomly. It also inflicts a debuff Temporal Bubble, that slows action speed, cooldown recovery rate, and debuff expiration.
  • Expedition's Unearthed Soldiers temporarily buff themselves and nearby allies with a directional proximity shield, which can be bypassed by attacking from behind in addition to proximity.[1]
  • Specific monster types can have proximity shields as a skill.

Players can benefit from proximity shields by stealing modifiers from enemies with effects like HeadhunterHeadhunter
