Elemental Hit is an attackskill that randomly deals fire, cold, or lightning damage in an area of effect around the target with each use. That use of Elemental Hit will only deal damage of the chosen element, and has more area of effect against enemies affected by the elemental ailments of that element. The skill deals more damage for each elemental ailment present on enemies.
Elemental Hit can be used with any weapon, or while unarmed.
Random damage type: Elemental Hit chooses a random elements each time it is used. That use can deal only damage of the chosen element (meaning it can never deal physical or chaos damage). The unique threshold jewelsCombat Focus can be used to exclude elements from being chosen. The skill will never choose the same element twice in a row, unless forced to with two Combat Focus.
The chosen element also limits damaging ailments. For example, allocating Shaper of Flames and a chosen cold attack will not result in a damaging ignite.
80% more Area Radius against Enemies affected by an Ailment of the chosen Element: The relevant elemental ailments are ignite and scorch (Fire); chill, freeze, and brittle (Cold); and shock and sap (Lightning).
10% more Damage per Elemental Ailment on the Enemy: This modifier only applies once per each unique ailment, up to 70%. Multiple stacks of the same ailment (e.g. two ignites via EmberwakeEmberwake Ruby RingRequires Level 16+(20-30)% to Fire Resistance(30-40)% increased Fire Damage (5-10)% increased Cast Speed 10% chance to Ignite 40% less Burning Damage You can inflict an additional Ignite on an EnemyLeave the world in flames behind you.) do not provide additional benefits.[1].
Area damage: When Elemental Hit hits an enemy, also it hits an area around the enemy, with base radius 10. This explosion won't affect the enemy originally hit; therefore, modifiers to area damage don't affect the skill's single-target damage. However, if used as a melee skill, each enemy hit will produce an explosion, which can hit other enemies that were also hit by the strike.[guesswork?]

Damage conversion: Elemental Hit has added damage of each element present on the gem. This flat damage applies even if it isn't of the chosen element, and in that case it's only negated after damage conversion has applied.[2]
Example: If the player equips Call of the Brotherhood with 20% elemental quality from a catalyst, supports Elemental Hit with Cold to Fire Support, and allocates the keystoneAvatar of Fire, 50% of the lightning damage will be converted to fire and 48% to cold. Then 100% of the cold damage, both native and converted from lightning, will be converted to fire. When Elemental Hit chooses fire, it will then deal significantly more damage than if the player did not perform damage conversion.

Fixed a bug where melee Elemental Hit attacks that would apply a relevant ailment to Elemental Hit's bonus would increase the area of effect for that hit, despite the ailment not yet being applied.
Modifiers to Melee Weapon and Unarmed Attack Range are now described as "+X to Melee Strike Range". The functionality hasn't changed. Weapons that describe their range still refer to "Weapon Range".
Previously added damage of a random element to an attack against a single target.
Now adds damage of all three element to attacks, selects one at random, and deals no damage of any other type. It tries not to pick the same element twice in a row. If the skill hits an enemy, it also deals damage in a small area around it. If the enemy is suffering from that element's associated ailment (ie. if it hits an ignited enemy with fire damage), the area component of the attack gets 80% more radius.
Now deals 10% more damage per elemental ailment on enemies.
Now has 30% chance to freeze, shock and ignite (up from 10%), which grows as the gem levels, up to 49% at gem level 20.
Now requires level 12.
