Mechanics
Every character's unarmed attack has a base attack speed of about 1.2 attacks per second (0.83 second attack time) and a base critical strike chance of 0%.
The base range of unarmed melee attacks is 6 units, which is shorter than the range of any melee weapon.[1][2]
The base physical damage of an unarmed attack varies by class:[citation needed]

Unarmed damage is counted under the attack keyword, but not the weapon keyword.
A character with a shield equipped can still use an unarmed attack. However, skills that use offhand equipment, like Spectral Shield Throw, are not considered unarmed attacks. If a character doesn't have any main or offhand equipment and is not wearing any gloves, then that character is considered Unencumbered.
Regular unarmed attacks will only count as an attack from the main hand.[3]
