Bonechill Support is a support gem that grants the supported skill more cold damage and increased chill effect. Enemies take also increased cold damage from all sources based on the magnitude of the chill effect applied by the skill.
Skill functions and interactions
The damage taken bonus from this gem is unofficially known as Bonechill. Chill, and therefore the effect of Bonechill, is capped at baseline 30%. A chill that reduces Action Speed by 14% will cause the enemy to take 14% increased Cold Damage.[1] Freeze is considered a separate ailment, and it will not impart any additional damage bonus.[2]
For Bonechill to affect an enemy, the chill must be caused by damage from the linked skill, or from chilling areas created by the skill. However, if the enemy is affected by multiple sources of chill (as long as one of those sources is linked to Bonechill), the strongest chill magnitude will be used for the Bonechill effect magnitude, even if it itself does not inflict Bonechill.[3][4] The gem's advanced description specifies (Chilled Ground, Creeping Frost, Frost Shield, and Vortices are Chilling Areas).
