Explode effects cause a killed monster or corpse to release an area of effect explosion, dealing damage to nearby enemies, based on the monster's maximum life. Explosions are considered secondary damage. Exploded enemies do not leave a corpse on death.
Mechanics
When checking monster life for their base damage, explosions ignore the life bonus from partying and Wellspring of Creation.[1] They are affected by offensive stats applicable to secondary damage, including damage modifiers, chance to inflict ailments, and increases to area of effect.
Non-skill explosions generally have a base critical strike chance of zero. They may gain it from flat additions such as +#% to Critical Strike Chance while affected by Hatred from a Watcher's EyeWatcher's Eye
