Gratuitous Violence
Ascendancy Notable Passive Skill
Bleeding Enemies you Kill Explode, dealing 10% of
their Maximum Life as Physical Damage
20% more Physical Damage over Time [1]

Gratuitous Violence is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Gladiator that makes bleeding enemies killed by the player explode, dealing a percentage of their life as damage, and grants physical damage over time.

Mechanics

The explosion modifier does not directly work with Ancestral WarchiefAncestral WarchiefAttack, Totem, AoE, Slam, Melee

Effectiveness of Added Damage: (110-166)%
Requires Level 28Summons an Ancestor Totem which attacks enemies with a powerful slam while you're near it. Being near it grants you more melee damage. Requires a Melee Weapon or Unarmed.Totem lasts 12 seconds

(8-18)% more Melee Damage while Totem is Active
50% increased Totem Placement speed
+1 metre to Melee Strike Range

. While these totems can cause bleeding, if they land the killing blow, enemies won't explode. But if the bleeding itself kills the enemies, they will. This is especially relevant if you are using Ancestral Bond and can't deal damage yourself.

Enemies that die from the explosion do not count as they have been killed by an active skill a player used, and therefore modifiers that support that skill do not affect killed enemies; modifiers that affect the character are still applied. This is mostly noticeable with mods to item rarity and quantity.[1]

Ruthless mode

Gratuitous Violence in Ruthless mode does not grant more Physical Damage over Time.
