Overview

The Chieftain is an Ascendancy class themed around the Karui ancestors, possessing a variety of offensive and defensive bonuses. Many of the Chieftain's passives are related to fire, such as Tasalio, Cleansing Water and Valako, Storm's Embrace allowing the Chieftain to scale cold and lightning resistances by scaling his fire resistance, shredding enemy fire resistances with Ramako, Sun's Light, creating powerful on-death explosions with Hinekora, Death's Fury, and modifing the passive tree with jewels to gain more fire damage and strength with Ngamahu, Flame's Advance. In addition, Sione, Sun's Roar grants his warcries with infinite Power at all time and Tukohama, War's Herald adds an extra support for strike and slam builds. Furthermore, all of his minor passives grant life regeneration, bolstering life sustain.

The Arohongui, Moon's Presence Ascendancy Passive Skill has been replaced with Sione, Sun's Roar. The small node prior now provides 15% increased Warcry Duration, instead of 10% increased Totem Placement Speed. Tukohama, War's Herald now requires Sione, Sun's Roar, or Hinekora, Death's Fury.
3.22.0	The Chieftain ascendancy class has been reworked. Valako, Storm's Embrace now requires Tasalio, Cleansing Water. Their preceding minor nodes now grants fire resistance and life regeneration. Tukohama, War's Herald now requires Tawhoa, Forest's Strength. Their preceding minor nodes now grants melee damage and life regeneration. Hinekora, Death's Fury no longer has a prerequisite notable.
3.11.0	Tawhoa, Forest's Strength has moved and is no longer a prerequisite for Valako, Storm's Embrace. It has been redesigned, and now grants level 20 Tawhoa's Chosen skill, which is triggered when you use a slam attack, creating an image which mirrors your Slam attack. This skill has a short cooldown. A new small passive leads to Tawhoa, Forest's Strength. It grants 10% increased Area of Effect and 0.5% Life Regeneration per Second. Valako, Storm's Embrace no longer grants 3% more damage for each Endurance Charge lost recently, up to 15%. Instead, it now grants 15% more damage for 8 seconds when you lose or consume any Endurance Charges. The small passive leading to Valako, Storm's Embrace no longer grants 15% increased Endurance Charge Duration. It now grants 5% chance to gain an Endurance Charge on Kill. Hinekora, Death's Fury now grants 100% chance to Cover Rare or Unique Enemies in Ash for 10 Seconds on Hit (from 20%).
3.7.0	Ramako, Sun's Light no longer has a prerequisite. Hinekora, Death's Fury now requires Ngamahu, Flame's Advance or Ramako, Sun's Light (previously required Ngamahu, Flame's Advance). Tukohama, War's Herald no longer requires Arohongui, Moon's Presence. Added new Chieftain notables - Valako, Storm's Embrace and Tasalio, Cleansing Water.
