The Elder is a boss that is invading the Atlas. He is the main antagonist of the War for the Atlas expansion. The Elder randomly spawns and fights via influence (the Shaper has a galaxy theme, elder is like tentacles). Finishing maps around his influence spreads it further, and finishing maps inside the influence to remove that part of the spread. This is called influencing. The Shaper helps you in the fights, not as a party member with all his abilities sadly but with unique moves and phase interaction. He'll spawn on your Atlas once 20 maps are influenced.

The arena is called Absence of Value and Meaning.
Fight
Main Key Points
- Elder spawns squids and octopi that create degen patches on the floor that deal insane physical degen, kill them fast.
- He also spawns slamming tentacles around you that smashes the floor randomly and do pretty big damage.
- When he locks you in place (some sort of cage) you will have a small moment to escape, shaper slaps his head and gives you a second to run.
- Many portals will spawn, kill these or keep 1 alive so you can regenerate flasks, these will create the abyss degen.
- He teleports and closes gaps really fast. So ranged builds will need to come closer.
Abilities
- Default attack.
- Slamming tentacles - Creates small pools of tentacles around you that smashes the floor and deals area damage.
- Projectile spells - Various variants of projectiles in a arc or circle, dealing cold damage.
- Siphon - Deals physical damage over time, slows the character down considerably or traps you completely. The Shaper spawns and distracts the elder giving the character time move out of the way.
- Expanding Nova - Elder creates a nova on the floor that grows steadily until it explodes. Stay inside the bubble with him, or else you will be slowed and degen hp massively.
- Petrifying Arc - Elder comes near you and creates an arc about 170 degrees about double meele range and slows you, and can petrify you (freeze flasks wont help), but stops near the end of it (Shaper hits him) this gives you moment to escape if you got stuck
Intermission
Once the Elder has dropped to about half hp The Shaper will trap him in a cosmic prison and elder will spawn many portals, protect the Shaper while he does his job and kill the portals. After the intermission is over you can kill him. Elder can leave early if he loses all his hp.

Notes
- Since you need 20 maps to be influenced before the Elder will spawn, you can't guarantee a spawn in red tier maps only. However red tier maps in the Hydra and Chimera sections are connected with only one yellow tier map, Bog. It's unsure what would happen if Bog were shaped in your Atlas.
