Shields offer additional defenses and a chance to block. Only one shield may be equipped at a time, in the offhand slot.

Shields and Body Armours have inherent Movement Speed penalties. In general, all STR Shields come with an '6% reduced Movement Speed' penalty and all other Shields have a '3% reduced Movement Speed' penalty.

I give you everything, my pets. My trust, my strength, my safety. Do not disappoint me.

Necromantic Aegis is a keystone passive skill that removes all bonuses provided by modifiers on equipped shields from the character and imparts those bonuses onto minions instead.

Specifics

The character will no longer benefit from any modifiers on equipped shields including implicit modifiers and explicit modifiers, local defences such as armour rating, and chance to block, and will instead apply these stats to minions.

The player character is still considered as holding a shield and will be affected by the hidden movement speed penalty based on the shield's basetype. The buff from Tempest ShieldTempest ShieldSpell, Lightning, Chaining

will still benefit the character.

Passive skills that increase stats from shields (e.g. #% increased Energy Shield from Equipped Shield will have no effect. Passive skills that provide a bonus while holding a shield, such as the elemental resistances granted by Sanctuary, will still benefit the character.[1]

Increased Rarity of Items found and Increased Quantity of Items found on shields only have an effect when applied to the player, and these bonuses will be rendered useless if granted to minions.[2]

Gems and Abyssal Jewels socketed in equipped shields are still usable and are not inherited by minions.

Most Crucible Passives work with Necromantic Aegis. Crucible Passives that allocate notable passive skills have no effect as minions do not have access to your passive tree.[3]

Location

Necromantic Aegis is located in the centre of the tree, to the northwest of the Scion's starting area.
