The Chieftain is an Ascendancy class for Marauders.
Overview
The Chieftain focuses on dealing additional fire damage through his attacks and totems. He can greatly enhance the utility of his totems, making them more resilient, taunting enemies they hit, and weakening nearby enemies. The Chieftain can also boast large amounts of life regeneration through his enhanced Endurance charges and life leech through the fire damage he and his totems deal, making him surprisingly tough to kill in the heat of combat.

Non-Unique Jewels cause Small and Notable Passive Skills in a Large Radius to
also grant +3 to Strength [1]
Ngamahu, Flame's Advance is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Chieftain. It causes your socketed non-unique jewels to convert all sources of increased and decreased damage nodes in a large radius into sources of fire damage and makes all small and notable passives in radius give additional strength.
Mechanics
"Increases and Reductions to other Damage Types" refers to variations of the following modifier types:[1]
- x% increased Physical damage
- x% increased Cold damage
- x% increased Lightning damage
- x% increased Chaos damage
Stats that are part of the modifier that does not pertain to damage types are unchanged. For example, #% increased Physical Damage with Axes is transformed into #% increased Fire Damage with Axes.
Other conditions or generic modifiers are not affected by this stat. For example, #% increased Spell Damage will not be transformed into #% increased Fire Damage. Additionally, this does not affect damage over time multiplier.
On a technical level, this stat works by adding an inverse modifier (increased/reduced) to set the original damage type to 0, and a like modifier with damage type as fire.
In cases where a passive is within the radius of two or more jewels, the transformation stats stack additively. For example, Path of the Warrior near the Scion starting area grants 16% increased Physical Damage will instead grant 32% increased Fire Damage and 16% reduced Physical Damage when affected by two jewels.

Hinekora, Death's Fury is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Chieftain. It grants a chance for enemies killed by you or your totems to explode for fire damage.
Mechanics
Compared to similar explosions, this explosion has a low chance to occur, but deals very high damage and has a significantly larger radius.
Note: like other non-skill explosions from proxies, when this explosion is caused by a totem, it will not have the player's offensive stats.[1]
Ruthless mode
Hinekora, Death's Fury in Ruthless mode is unchanged.
