Mechanics

  • Deal no Non-Lightning Damage - Character can only deal Lightning damage (though not limited to Lightning skills). Any other type of damage will not work, though skills will still hit.
  • Armour also applies to Lightning Damage taken from Hits - Armour calculations now apply to Lightning Damage taken from hits, but not Lightning damage over time.
  • Lightning Resistance does not affect Lightning Damage taken - The player character takes Lightning Damage as if it always has 0% Lightning Resistance, for both hits and damage over time. This does not influence items that care about your actual resistance value e.g. Choir of the StormChoir of the Storm

  • Nearby Enemies have Lightning Resistance equal to yours - All nearby enemies with 6 metres[1] will have Lightning Resistance equal to your character screen value. For example, if you had -150% Lightning Resistance on your character screen, the enemy would have -150% Lightning Res. Enemy resistances cannot be lowered further with curses, exposure, or other methods. However, Lightning Penetration will still function as penetration does not lower Resistances, but deals damage as if the enemy had that much lower resists.     • Due to a bug, this modifier does not modify affect enemy resistances if the wearer has 0% Lightning Resistance.[3]
    • This modifier will override Elemental Resistances are Zero from Veil of the NightVeil of the Night

Strategies

Defense

  • Lightning Resistance does not affect Lightning Damage taken causes your player to take damage as if it had 0% Lightning Resistance; in a vacuum, this means a player would take 4 times as much damage as a player with 75% Lightning Res.
  • Converting 100% of lightning damage taken as to other damage types with 75% or greater resistance will negate this problem. The following give a significant amount of lightning damage taken as conversion:
