All skeletons wield an exact copy of the player's weapon. Sources that cause the player's blade to trigger damage, will trigger the skeletons' as well. For example The Hidden BladeThe Hidden Blade

normally have their own weapon with .8 attacks per second that gains base damage as they level up. A level 20 skeleton has 1,012 average damage per hit.

The iron mass removes the skeletons' attack speed and base weapon damage from leveling up the gem and replaces it with its own damage and attack speed. An iron mass with maximum attack speed and damage rolls has 1.53 attacks per second and 195 average damage per hit.

A level 20 skeletons does (1,012 X .8) = 810 DPS

A perfect rolled hidden blade does (195 X 3) = 585 (585 X 1.53) = 895 (Note: Can go higher with corrupted modifiers.)

Scaling Damage

Skeleton damage normally scales with X 1.5 damage and X .8 attack speed. (1.5 X .8) = 120% of raw damage scaling.

Skeletons with The iron mass have X 3 = damage and X 1.53 attack speed. (3 X 1.53) = 459% of raw damage scaling.

459 / 120 = 3.825

The Iron Mass gives nearly 4 times the damage per second from flat added damage and the base weapon damage is lower than skeleton damage from the gem at level 22. These 2 factors make added flat damage give higher damage per second than a skeleton build that doesn't use the iron mass.

A few examples of flat minion damage may include:

  • Added Chaos Damage SupportAdded Chaos Damage SupportChaos, Support
    Icon: H
    Level: (1-20)
    Cost & Reservation Multiplier: 120%
Requires Level 31Supports any skill that hits enemies.Supported Skills have (18-154) to (26-231) added Chaos Damage

    Additional Effects From 1-20% Quality:
Supported Skills deal (0.5-10)% increased Chaos Damage
This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.
  • Abyss jewels with Minions deal # to # additional [damage type] damage
  • Auras with flat damage like envy.
  • Carrion golems have a buff that increases other minions flat damage. This can be boosted by things like:
    • 150% increased Effect of the Buff granted by carrion golems from eternal labyrinth helmet enchantment.
    • (#)% increased Effect of Buffs granted by your Golems from multiple sources. See golems.

Item acquisition

The Iron Mass has restrictions on where or how it can drop. It cannot be chanced.

The Iron Mass can be obtained from Curio Displays in the final reward rooms of any Grand Heist.
