Orb of Conflict is a currency item introduced in the Siege of the Atlas expansion.

It is obtained occasionally after defeating the Maven.

Orb of Conflict can be used to increase the tier of an Eldritch implicit modifier and is the only way to obtain the 5th and 6th tiers of those modifiers (or known as T1 / 2 if count from the top).

Strategies

Because the orb is weighted to have a lower chance to increase a modifier the higher its current tier is, getting (T1/T2 count from the top; t5/t6 count from the bottom) Eldritch modifiers can be quite costly. The following steps explains how to get a t6 Exarch mod; for Eater mods, simply use the opposite modifiers/currencies. It is generally advised to roll the implicit prior to crafting its explicit modifiers as it must be magic for imprints; however, this will limit the flexibility of Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments when crafting.

  • From this step on, you may choose to imprint the item using Bestiary before using an Orb of Conflict.
• There is a 50% chance to hit t5 Exarch, in which case the Eater implicit is downgraded to t3. You also have a 50% chance to hit t3 Exarch instead; you can try to re-upgrade it by using an Orb of Conflict, or revert the imprint.
• Repeat this process to hit t6 Exarch; a t5/t4 base is more likely to upgrade the Eater implicit and may require several attempts.

• Optionally, you may wish to have a t5/t5 item in some situations - using an Orb of Conflict on a t6/t4 base with the correct implicit is almost guaranteed to achieve this on the first try. t5/t5 items are not considered dominated by either Influence, and will not be compatible with Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments.
