The Ascent is an area in Act 4. This area does not have a waypoint and is connected to Highgate and The Slave Pens.

A trail leads from Highgate to the top of Mount Veruso. Halfway through the area, a long rope bridge spans across a chasm. The Resonator is at the end of the Ascent; pulling a lever activates the Oriath Portal to Act 5.

The area is partially returned in Act 9 as The Descent. As the name suggests, the player now descends from the hill from that area.
