As the lower tier modifier is removed, it is recommended that you only use the Lesser currencies of the Eldritch implicit types you don't want due to the relative cost.
Because the orb is weighted to have a lower chance to increase a modifier the higher its current tier is, getting t5/t6 Eldritch modifiers can be quite costly. The following steps explains how to get a t6 Exarch mod; for Eater mods, simply use the opposite modifiers/currencies. It is generally advised to roll the implicit prior to crafting its explicit modifiers as it must be magic for imprints; however, this will limit the flexibility of Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments when crafting.

*Start with a tier 4 Exarch/tier 1 Eater item (or vice versa) with a t4 implicit you want to upgrade.
*Start with a t4 Exarch with an implicit you want to upgrade. It is usually best to get the desired t3 mod with Grand Eldritch currency then upgrade with an Orb of Conflict, rather than using Exceptional Eldritch currency.
*There is a 50% chance to hit t5 Exarch, in which case the Eater implicit is removed. Apply an {{il|Lesser Eldritch Ichor}} to repeat the process. You also have a 50% chance to hit t3 Exarch instead; whether you should gamble another Orb of Conflict or reroll implicits with an {{il|Exceptional Eldritch Ember}} to recover the t4 mod will depend on the relative price/availability/weight of the mods.
*Apply an {{il|Exceptional Eldritch Ichor}} to get the item to t4/t4.
*Repeat this process to hit t6 Exarch; at this point, you can use an {{il|Exceptional Eldritch Ichor}} to hit a desirable Eater implicit (thus leaving your item at t6/t4).
**From this step on, you may choose to [[imprint]] the item using [[Bestiary]] before using an Orb of Conflict.
*In niche cases, you may want to hit t5/t5; simply use an Orb of Conflict on a t6/t4 item to do so. Note that t5/t5 items are not considered dominated and you will not be able to use Eldritch Currencies on it.
*There is a 50% chance to hit t5 Exarch, in which case the Eater implicit is downgraded to t3. You also have a 50% chance to hit t3 Exarch instead; you can try to re-upgrade it by using an Orb of Conflict, or revert the imprint.
*Repeat this process to hit t6 Exarch; a t5/t4 base is more likely to upgrade the Eater implicit and may require several attempts.
*Once you reach your desired Exarch mod tier, you can use an {{il|Exceptional Eldritch Ichor}} or {{il|Grand Eldritch Ichor}} to hit a desirable Eater implicit (thus leaving your item at t6/t4 or t6/t3).
*Optionally, you may wish to have a t5/t5 item in some situations - using an Orb of Conflict on a t6/t4 base with the correct implicit is almost guaranteed to achieve this on the first try. t5/t5 items are not considered dominated by either Influence, and will not be compatible with Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments.

Orb of Conflict is a currency item introduced in the Siege of the Atlas expansion.

It is obtained occasionally after defeating the Maven.

Orb of Conflict can be used to increase the tier of an Eldritch implicit modifier and is the only way to obtain the 5th and 6th tiers of those modifiers (or known as T1 / 2 if count from the top).

Strategies

Because the orb is weighted to have a lower chance to increase a modifier the higher its current tier is, getting t5/t6 Eldritch modifiers can be quite costly. The following steps explains how to get a t6 Exarch mod; for Eater mods, simply use the opposite modifiers/currencies. It is generally advised to roll the implicit prior to crafting its explicit modifiers as it must be magic for imprints; however, this will limit the flexibility of Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments when crafting.

  • Start with a t4 Exarch with an implicit you want to upgrade. It is usually best to get the desired t3 mod with Grand Eldritch currency then upgrade with an Orb of Conflict, rather than using Exceptional Eldritch currency.
  • Apply an Exceptional Eldritch IchorExceptional Eldritch IchorStack Size: 10Adds an Exceptional Eater of Worlds implicit modifier to
a Body Armour, Boots, Gloves or Helmet
This replaces any existing implicit modifiers other than Searing Exarch implicit modifiers
Right click this item then left click a normal, magic or rare item to apply it. Cannot be used on Shaper, Elder or Elderslayer influenced items.
to get the item to t4/t4.
    • From this step on, you may choose to imprint the item using Bestiary before using an Orb of Conflict.
  • There is a 50% chance to hit t5 Exarch, in which case the Eater implicit is downgraded to t3. You also have a 50% chance to hit t3 Exarch instead; you can try to re-upgrade it by using an Orb of Conflict, or revert the imprint.
  • Repeat this process to hit t6 Exarch; a t5/t4 base is more likely to upgrade the Eater implicit and may require several attempts.
  • Once you reach your desired Exarch mod tier, you can use an Exceptional Eldritch IchorExceptional Eldritch IchorStack Size: 10Adds an Exceptional Eater of Worlds implicit modifier to
