__TOC__

Orb of Conflict can be used to increase the tier of an Eldritch implicit modifier (Eater of Worlds or Searing Exarch implicits) from a dual influenced item, by decrease the tier of the implicit of the opposite influence. The choice of which implicit is upgraded and which is downgraded is determined by the game server by random. Despite there may be mod weighting involved originating from the tier of the two influenced mods in question.

An Orb of Conflict can be used to increase the tier of an Eldritch implicit modifier (Eater of Worlds or Searing Exarch implicits) on a piece of equipment, decreasing the tier of the implicit of the opposite influence. The choice of which implicit is upgraded and which is downgraded is weighted based on the difference in tier of modifiers.

It is the only way to obtain the 5th and 6th tiers of those modifiers: "Exquisite" and "Perfect" (or known as T1 / 2 if count from the top).
The chance to upgrade a modifier when the tiers are equal (e.g. 3/3) is 50%. Each difference in tier modifies the rate by approximately ±11%, decreasing if the desirable implicit is higher than the other one, and increasing if lower than the other one. For example, a 5/3 item has a ~28% chance to upgrade to 6/2.

As Exceptional Eldritch Embers and Exceptional Eldritch Ichors are more restricted in their availability, it is generally advisable to roll for the desired implicit using "Grand" tier Eldritch currency instead. The opposite modifier can then be rolled using an Exceptional currency as the modifier itself is not relevant when upgrading. Items can be imprinted prior to using an Orb of Conflict to reset if a modifier is downgraded.

Strategies
It is the only way to obtain Tier 5 and Tier 6 (in this case T1 is the bottom tier while T6 is the top tier, unlike the in-game normal mod tiering) Eldritch implicit modifiers, referred to in-game as "Exquisite" and "Perfect".

Because the orb is weighted to have a lower chance to increase a modifier the higher its current tier is, getting Exquisite or Perfect tier (t5/t6 count from the bottom; known as T1/T2 if count from the top) Eldritch modifiers can be quite costly. The following steps explains how to get a Perfect tier Exarch mod; for Eater mods, simply use the opposite modifiers/currencies. It is generally advised to roll the implicit prior to crafting its explicit modifiers as it must be magic for imprints; however, this will limit the flexibility of Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments when crafting.

*Start with an item with Exceptional Exarch implicit mod you want to upgrade by spamming Exceptional Eldritch Ember (use Exceptional Eldritch Ichor for opposite).
*Apply an Exceptional Eldritch Ichor (or Exceptional Eldritch Ember for the opposite) to get the item to Exceptional /Exceptional .
**From this step on, you may choose to imprint the item using beastcrafting before using an Orb of Conflict.
*There is a 50% chance to hit Exquisite Exarch, in which case the Eater implicit is downgraded to "Grand" tier. You also have a 50% chance to hit "Grand" tier Exarch mod instead; you can try to re-upgrade it by using an Orb of Conflict, or use the imprint on the item to restore the mod and startover by create new imprint.
*Repeat this process to hit Perfect Exarch; a Exquisite/Exceptional base is more likely to upgrade the Eater implicit and may require several attempts.
*Once you reach your desired Exarch mod tier, you can use an Exceptional Eldritch Ichor or Grand Eldritch Ichor to hit a desirable Eater implicit (thus leaving your item at Perfect/Exceptional or Perfect/Grand).
*Optionally, you may wish to have a Exquisite/Exquisite item in some situations - using an Orb of Conflict on a t6/Exceptional base with the correct implicit is almost guaranteed to achieve this on the first try.  Exquisite/Exquisite items are not considered dominated by either Influence, and will not be compatible with Eldritch Chaos/Exalt/Annulments.

Orb of Conflict is a currency item introduced in the Siege of the Atlas expansion.

For example, a 5/3 item has a ~28% chance to upgrade to 6/2.[1]
