The level of the spawned corpses is determined by the lower value between area level and Desecrate's Spawns corpses up to Level # stat.[1] The corpse's level cannot exceed the area level or maximum corpse level based on Desecrate's level.
Desecrate's chaos damage over time is not affected by modifiers to spell damage. It is affected by area damage modifiers.
Modifiers to area of effect only affect the area of the Desecrated Ground's damaging area; it does not affect the spread distance of spawned corpses.

On a PC, if Corpse Targeting is enabled within the Options menu (under "Game"), pressing the A key will show the name and inherent stats of the corpse when the player hovers their mouse over it. This can be changed to a different key or not requiring a key in the options.

This number is independent of your maximum spectre limit. This list is retained even upon exiting the area, removing the Raise Spectre gem, after your Spectres die or are unsummoned, or logging out. There is currently no way to clear a spectre bank; it can only be ignored by removing the Raise Spectre gem.
Spectral Corpses will only be created if at least one monster is in your spectre bank. Before 10 or more different monsters are saved in the spectre bank, each additional spectre saved dilutes the chance for the Spectral Corpse to be a specific spectre. After 10 or more spectres are saved, the chance does not get further diluted, and the oldest monster saved will be removed from the spectre bank.
To share spectres between players, the players should join the same hideout area. After doing so, either player will be able to spawn spectral corpses of other players in the area.[3] In non-hideout areas, the player who owns the desired spectre must be the one to use Desecrate for other players.

Spectral Corpses have a visual effect applied to them to help differentiate them from other corpses.
Spectral Corpses can only spawn if you have the Raise Spectre Skill.
The maximum level of Corpses spawned is now level 20 at gem level 1 (unchanged), scaling up to 80 at gem level 20 (previously level 100).
Alternate quality gems, labyrinth helmet enchantments and unique threshold jewels are all systems that were trying to subtly modify the behaviour of skills. With this expansion these have been combined into a new system called Transfigured Gems that allows us to fully achieve the goal of these three systems, and then some.
Anomalous, Divergent and Phantasmal Quality Gems have been removed from the game. Existing alternate Quality Gems now have the base Quality effect found on the respective Gem.

Desecrate and Corpse Walk now have a static 15% chance to spawn a Spectre Corpse, rather than a 2x relative weighting compared to all other possible corpse types.
Lower the life of Spectre versions of monsters that have very high life totals. Their life is being brought down to match Kitava's Herald monsters. This will affect their corpse when created with Desecrate.
Phantasmal Desecrate can now produce corpses of Scourge monsters. [Undocumented This change was not documented by any official sources. It was discovered through player testing or datamining.]
Reverted an unintended change where corpses of Spectre monsters were made to be just as likely as other corpses from Desecrate and other corpse generating skills. Spectre-based corpses are once again twice as likely as corpses from the area.[4]
The Labyrinth Helmet Enchantment for Desecrate which granted increased Cooldown Reduction now instead grants increased Duration at the same value. This affects existing items with this enchantment. This enchantment can no longer be obtained from the Labyrinth.
Now creates 5 corpses (up from 3). The cooldown has been reduced to 3 seconds per stack (down from 5), and the cast time has been reduced to 0.8 seconds (down from 1). Desecrate's maximum corpse level now grows more steadily as the skill gem levels up. It can now create higher level corpses at most levels, except level 19 of the gem, in which the maximum corpse level has been lowered from 100 to 81.
Desecrate can now only create monsters that are in the instance it is used in. In areas where no monsters have spawned, a specific desecrate table is used. This fixes a longstanding bug with the desecration list that had further problems introduced due to persistent spectres.
The maximum level of a created corpse has been changed to being higher than the required level of the skill. This scales up to a monster level cap of 100 by level 20 of the gem.
Desecrate also now enforces a limit of 15 corpses at a time.
