with a Hinekora's Lock applied to it. Note the purple icon below the flavour text and the purple glow on the item's art.

Using Hinekora's Lock on an item allows the player to preview the outcome of the next currency item applied to it by hovering the cursor over the item with the currency selected. Using a different currency will not cause that previewed outcome to occur, and remove the effects of Hinekora's Lock. Incubators being applied do not remove the previewed state.

Hinekora's Lock cannot be used on gems or any items that are corrupted, mirrored or unmodifiable. It cannot be used to preview the outcome of the Corruption Altar device in the Locus of Corruption.

Hinekora's Lock does not work with the Crafting Bench, the Horticrafting Station, beastcrafting, recombinators (despite these being currencies), or non-crafting Betrayal Safehouse benches. However, crafting a modifier on the item will remove its previewed state.[1]

Items in the previewed state adds a small icon to the item box and adds a purple glow effect to the item's 2D art. The previewed state of the item persists when traded.

Version history

During Ancestor league, Hinekora's Lock could be obtained as a reward from Hinekora for completing a tournament in the Trial of the Ancestors.

Version Changes
3.23.0
  • Hinekora's Lock has been added to the core drop pool.[a]
  • Hinekora's Lock can no longer foresee the result of corrupting an item at the Altar of Corruption.
3.22.0

Notes

  1. Grinding Gear Games had originally suggested that Hinekora's Lock would not be added to the core game after Ancestor league ended.[2] After the release of version 3.23.0, players soon discovered that Hinekora's Lock was added to the core drop pool.[3] This change did not appear in the patch notes.
