The Ezomytes

The Ezomytes are a race/faction in Wraeclast. They originate from Ezomyr and the Isles of Skoth, a landmass located to the west of Sarn. They worship The First Ones and other animalistic Ezomyte gods. Their official language is "Ezo".

Their culture was a primary focus of Talisman league and Bestiary league.

Thane Rigwald is the former king of the Ezomytes. He rallied his "clansmen" to fight at the historical "Battle of Glarryn". After calling upon the Greatwolf to aid him during the Purity Rebellion, his body and soul was taken over by the Greatwolf. He became known as the "King of the Wolves".

The First Ones

The Greatwolf

The Greatwolf is a god of the Ezomytes, one of The First Ones.

During the Purity Rebellion, Thane Rigwald, king of the Ezomytes, collected "the Talismans of the First Ones" and called upon the First Ones to help him and his people. The Greatwolf responded, granting Rigwald the power that he wanted, who used it to hunt down and kill Gaius Sentari Rigwald paid for this power "in blood", becoming consumed by the power of the Greatwolf to point that he could not distinguish Ezomyte from prey. To protect his subjects, he exiled himself from his people, becoming the "King of the Wolves".

Here I call out to the First Ones, beasts of legend, terrors of our dreams. Here I howl to the Greatwolf himself.

History

The Great Fire

The Great Fire was a cataclysmic event in the history of the Ezomytes.

The Ezomyte's ancestors failed to honour the First Ones for their "gifts". As a consequence, the First Ones caused fires to spill "out of a mountain". As it did so, Fenumus wove a net and carried itself into the sky, floating on the hot winds. Once the flames had "spread across the land", Saqawal used its wings to bring the fires to a "standstill".

For the Ezomytes, the aftermath was catastrophic. The then leaders had been "turned to ash where they stood", civilization was "erased", and the land was laid barren. Those who survived grew "weak", but were taken "pity" on by "Mother Gull", who gave them "grain and water". However, the grain and water were later found to be tainted, and caused those who consumed it to "[feed] on each other" (i.e. cannibals).

The depiction of fire coming from a mountain has some similarities to events documented relating to the Proto-Vaal and the Cleansing Fire.

The flavour text of Rolling Flames, a jewel released in Version 2.1.0 (Talisman League, the said Talismans belonging to the Ezomytes) may provide clues about the nature of the fire - the flames swept from "north to south", growing taller as they consumed the land.

The Purity Rebellion

Thane Rigwald led a group of the Ezomytes known as the Bloody Flowers in the Purity Rebellion against Gaius Sentari and the Eternal Empire. This battle was known as "the Battle of Glarryn" or "the Blood Flowers' Rebellion". It is theorized the Ezomyte PeakEzomyte Peak
