Summon Raging Spirit (commonly referred to as SRS) is a minion spell that temporarily summons a flying flaming skull that charges at enemies and attacks them.
==Skill functions and interactions== | ==Skill functions and interactions==
* Behaviour: Raging Spirits do not follow the character like other minions do. Instead, they move towards the direction the player points with their cursor upon summoning. If they encounter enemies on their way, they will immediately attack them. If no enemies are found, they will search for nearby enemies and move to attack them. They will continue chasing and attacking enemies until their duration ends. If multiple Raging Spirits are nearby, they will attempt to choose different targets, making them more effective in spreading their damage across an entire pack of monsters. Due to their ability to fly and naturally chain between packs of enemies, they are great for clearing out entire areas when paired with the Melee Splash Support.
* Duration: Each Raging Spirit has a base duration of 5 seconds. To reach the maximum of 20 Raging Spirits, investing in skill duration might be necessary to extend their lifetime. Additionally, cast speed, Unleash Support, Spell Echo Support, and added gem quality can be used to maximize their number and duration.
==Gem | * Damage conversion: Raging Spirits deal base physical damage. Their mod stat is inherent to the minion, not the summoning skill or its own attack skill, meaning it has the same priority as other sources of non-skill conversion like Triad Grip, Sidhebreath, and Unholy Might. The ratio is scaled down to 100% if the sum exceeds 100%. For example, wearing a 4 green socket Triad Grip will cause 100% of Physical Damage to be converted to Fire and 100% to Cold, which is scaled down to 50% Fire and 50% Cold conversion.
{{ | |||
| | * Cannot Be Targeted: Raging Spirits cannot be targeted directly, but they can be damaged by enemies accidentally, or through an area of effect. Summon Reaper cannot target them for consumption. Due to being invalid targets, they also cannot apply Taunt. | ||
| | |||
* Flying: Raging Spirits are flying minions, which means they can move freely over terrain that characters would have to use a movement skill like Flame Dash to cross, such as cliffs, gaps, bodies of water etc. They are also unaffected by some ground effects, and do not block the movement of non-flying entities.
* Aggression: Raging Spirits have a naturally large aggro range. Making them Aggressive (such as with the Feeding Frenzy Support) does nothing, except cancel out Defensive if also supported by Meat Shield Support.
* Convocation: Since Raging Spirits do not follow the character, they cannot be recalled using Convocation.

===Sustaining Maximum Spirits===
The attributes that will improve max spirit count are Cast Speed and Skill Duration. Due to their short duration and very high maximum of 20, sustaining the maximum number of Raging Spirits is challenging without the use of a support gem.
Unleash Support, In conjunction with some improvements to Skill Duration from the tree, notably Enduring Bond, will allow you to sustain the maximum number of spirits relatively easily, but at the opportunity cost of another damage improving support.
Between Unleash Support} and Spell Echo Support} The former is generally preferred as it allows the caster to remain mobile, and its damage penalty only applies "when Reoccurring" so immediately stops applying to the created Raging Spirits.
If we assume: | |||
{{math|formula= | |||
\begin{align} | |||
D & \text{ percent increased Duration } \\
C & \text{ percent increased Cast Speed } \\
E & \text{ percent More Cast Speed } \\
\end{align} | |||
}} | |||
And in a scenario where you can continuously cast Summon Raging Spirits without stopping, then the formula for how many spirits are on the screen at a time will be:
{{math|formula= | |||
5.0 * ( 1 + {D \over 100} ) \over { 0.5 \over { ( 1 + {C \over 100} ) * ( 1 + {E \over 100} ) } }
}} which simplifies to: {{math|formula=
10.0 * ( 1 + {D \over 100} ) * ( 1 + {C \over 100} ) * ( 1 + {E \over 100} )
}} | |||
And then round up to get the maximum number of spirits reached (with a maximum of 20).
Example calculation: If you have 45% increased skill duration, 76% increased cast speed, and 70% more cast speed, you would have , which means that if you continuously cast, your spirits will despawn earlier than necessary. This means you can spend several seconds per cycle on other things such as dodging, casting curses, or moving in between spirit castings.
Formula for Spell Totem Support (30% reduced cast speed, Spell Echo's More Cast Speed doesn't apply):
{{math|formula= | |||
7.0 * ( 1 + {D \over 100} ) * ( 1 + {C \over 100} )
}} | |||
===Scaling Damage=== | |||
Due to their relatively high effectiveness for added damage, especially considering their overwhelming numbers, Raging Spirits scale superlatively with sources of "flat" added damage.
Notable sources of flat added elemental damage include: Added Cold Damage Support, Added Lightning Damage Support, Immolate Support, Wrath and Anger
Due to the Raging Spirit's fairly low base damage, its remarkably easy to essentially "convert" their damage type to something else by adding enough flat damage of that type.
A popular strategy using these two points above is to add a huge amount of flat added Chaos damage to the Raging Spirits and then have them inflict Poison which allows for extremely efficient scaling of their damage per second through effects like Wither and the Temporal Chains curse.
Notable sources of flat added Chaos damage include: Added Chaos Damage Support especially from The Covenant, Chance to Poison Support and the special Envy aura, which can be found at its highest level from either Severed in Sleep or United In Dream.
When not using Severed in Sleep, Wither chance for the spirits can also found with the Withering Touch Support which also adds a significant amount of Chaos damage but as a percentage of the Spirit's base Physical damage.
Ghastly Eye Jewels also include mods for flat added damage of each type, as well as chance to poison.

Summon Raging Spirit (commonly referred to as SRS) is a minion spell that temporarily summons a flying flaming skull that charges at enemies and attacks them.
Skill functions and interactions
- Behaviour: Raging Spirits do not follow the character like other minions do. Due to their ability to fly and naturally chain between packs of enemies, they are great for clearing out entire areas when paired with the Melee Splash SupportMelee Splash SupportSupport, Melee, Attack, Strike, AoE

- Damage conversion: Raging Spirits deal base physical damage. Their 100% of their Physical Damage is converted into Fire Damage stat is inherent to the minion, not the summoning skill or its own attack skill, meaning it has the same priority as other sources of non-skill conversion like Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Triad Grip", Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Sidhebreath", and Unholy Might. The ratio is scaled down to 100% if the sum exceeds 100%. For example, wearing a 4 green socket Triad Grip will cause 100% of Physical Damage to be converted to Fire and 100% to Cold, which is scaled down to 50% Fire and 50% Cold conversion.
- Cannot Be Targeted: Raging Spirits cannot be targeted directly, but they can be damaged by enemies accidentally, or through an area of effect. Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Summon Reaper" cannot target them for consumption. Due to being invalid targets, they also cannot apply Taunt.

Strategy
Sustaining Maximum Spirits
The attributes that will improve max spirit count are Cast Speed and Skill Duration. Due to their short duration and very high maximum of 20, sustaining the maximum number of Raging Spirits is challenging without the use of a support gem.
Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Unleash Support", In conjunction with some improvements to Skill Duration from the tree, notably Enduring Bond, will allow you to sustain the maximum number of spirits relatively easily, but at the opportunity cost of another damage improving support.

If we assume:
And in a scenario where you can continuously cast Summon Raging Spirits without stopping, then the formula for how many spirits are on the screen at a time will be:
which simplifies to:
And then round up to get the maximum number of spirits reached (with a maximum of 20).
Example calculation: If you have 45% increased skill duration, 76% increased cast speed, and 70% more cast speed, you would have , which means that if you continuously cast, your spirits will despawn earlier than necessary. This means you can spend several seconds per cycle on other things such as dodging, casting curses, or moving in between spirit castings.

Due to the Raging Spirit's fairly low base damage, its remarkably easy to essentially "convert" their damage type to something else by adding enough flat damage of that type.
A popular strategy using these two points above is to add a huge amount of flat added Chaos damage to the Raging Spirits and then have them inflict Poison which allows for extremely efficient scaling of their damage per second through effects like Wither and the Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Temporal Chains" curse.
