Mechanics

Gain #% of Missing Unreserved Life before being hit by an Enemy: This modifier instantly recovers a percentage of missing life immediately after the wearer fails to evade or dodge a hit, before that hit deals damage.

For example: a character on full life has 0 missing life before being hit, and accordingly recovers nothing. A character on 1/5000 life has 4999 missing life, and will (with a 24% roll on the amulet) recover 1199 life before damage calculation or loss of resources.

This effect will prevent dying to hits that deal less damage than the numerical roll's percentage of (maximum unreserved life - 1). Its timing also means the recovery occurs before on-hit effects, such as culling strike; in this case, the life threshold for cull can be directly subtracted from the maximum hit a Defiance of Destiny can out-heal. Recovering before damage calculation may prevent benefiting from defensive modifiers with a Low Life condition, such as Lori's LanternLori's Lantern
