Unlike the original skill, this transfigured version deals more damage with poison, but it can't poison a target that's already poisoned. The poison from this skill has less duration than Viper Strike, matching the default base poison duration. This skill also lacks penalties from dual wielding and combines the attack of both weapons into a single hit. Gem quality gives more damage with poison instead.
Skill functions and interactions
Duration: Like the default Viper Strike, modifiers to skill duration also affects the duration of the poison, as well as ailment duration.
Dual Wielding: Viper Strike of the Mamba attacks with both weapons simultaneously, averaging the attack speed of both weapons and combining the attacks of both weapons into a single hit. Both weapons will roll their damage values and their accuracy and critical strike checks separately, then combine the expected damage of both weapons. It is possible to miss or crit with one weapon, but not the other.
On-hit effects will only check the result of the final hit.
Any ailments applied by the skill will scale off the final hit.
The final hit is considered a critical strike as long as one of the weapons rolled a crit.
To maximize the damage from Viper Strike of the Mamba, it's important to have your attack speed be as close to the poison duration as possible without getting your attacks per second faster than the poison duration.
