Maraketh is a race/faction of the Wraeclast. Their leaders are known as Sekhema. Their official language is "Marak".

A large tribe is known to live in Highgate. All Maraketh weapons are related to this faction.

Deshret is a legendary Sekhema of the Maraketh that sealed the entrance to The Mines as well as ordered her villagers to guard the door at the Highgate.

Lore

The Faridun

The Faridun is a faction exiled by the Maraketh to the Vastiri Desert for being "unworthy or flawed"[a] The rogue Nenet comes from this faction.

The Faridun are featured in the Act 2 of the upcoming Path of Exile 2 as an enemy faction.

The quest The Immortal Syndicate refers the Vastiri Desert as the "Maraketh Desert".

Order of the Djinn

Apparently, Maraketh has some relation with the Order of the Djinn. The Order has a vault in Vastiri (in The Oasis in in-game area), while the Highgate is next to the Vastiri Desert and The Oasis in terms of in-game areas. Jun, Veiled Master uses some in-game fictional language that is also used by members of Maraketh, such as akhara. She also introduced herself as "of Vastiri". The order also fostered people that was exiled by Maraketh, according to the flavour text of Module Error: No results found for item using search term "item_name = Rusted Reliquary Scarab".

History

Bows are a common weapon for the Maraketh. Their unique weapon designs lead to some of their archers are more effective at close range than from afar.

As a soldier you want to get close to enemy archers.

That is not the case when fighting the Maraketh.[b]

The Winter of the World

The Winter of the World is the first event in recorded Maraketh history. The war spans the years between the rise of the Lightless to their defeat at the hands of Solerai and Lundara.

After the Lightless's initial attack on the primeval civilization, The Clayshaper, along with the Maraketh's "scant survivors" of the Lightless's initial attack, formed an alliance to found the Order of the Djinn[1] and repel the Lightless's invasions on the Vastiri Plains. Using her golems and the "relics of power"[2], Ahkeli helped the Maraketh triumph.

with the "essence of gold" and Lundara with a weapon with the "essence of silver". The Winter of the World was ended by the Three Sisters resulting in the Lightless being driven back underground and the survival of the Maraketh and the Order of the Djinn.[3]

The Three Sisters also created the Viridian Wildwood to provide a refuge for the Azmeri people during the Winter of the World[4] and the dangers of Wraeclast after a volcanic eruption[5], as well as diverting the Scourge away from Wraeclast[6].

Details about this event and the rise of the Three Sisters are of interest to many Wraeclast scholars, such as the Crimson Scribe.[7]

Culture

The Maraketh worship Garukhan, Queen of the Winds.

The most important commandment in Maraketh tradition is "Honour the Mother, Honour the Life".[c]
