Going above them is something you must not do. If the attack you use to trigger your spells is just slightly too fast and your spells are still on cooldown, you can lose up to almost half your DPS.
The ability to have multiple spells fire simultaneously in one giant megaburst is definitely powerful, but the Mana reserve amount of this can get extreme. Very carefully plan out your build if you want to try doing this.
