Stormbind is a channelling spell that places runes on the targeted ground as the skill is channelled. These runes hinder enemies standing on it. The gem grants a sub-skill, Rune Blast, which improves runes placed by Stormbind as it is channelled, and releasing the channel detonates the rune and surrounding runes to deal lightning damage.

• Stormbind
  • The Stormbind skill places runes in a grid pattern around the cursor. These can be improved with the Rune Blast skill to increase damage and area of effect. If using two Stormbind setups (one to place runes, one to improve runes), support gems that increase damage should be linked to the Stormbind setup used to place runes.

• Rune Blast
  • A Rune Blast from one Stormbind gem can still improve the runes of a different Stormbind gem.
  • Rune Blast does not have the same gem tags as Stormbind. It is a generic channelling skill and does not directly deal damage. It can be supported by Cast while Channelling SupportCast while Channelling SupportSupport, Channelling, Spell, Trigger

  • Increasing the mana cost used per channel tick increases the number of connected runes improved per cast. Each rune can only be improved once per channel tick. If the mana spent exceeds the threshold to improve, the remaining mana spent can also improve any of the 8 surrounding runes. Up to 9 runes can be improved per channel tick this way.

3.23.0	Alternate quality gems, labyrinth helmet enchantments and unique threshold jewels are all systems that were trying to subtly modify the behaviour of skills. With this expansion these have been combined into a new system called Transfigured Gems that allows us to fully achieve the goal of these three systems, and then some. Anomalous, Divergent and Phantasmal Quality Gems have been removed from the game. Existing alternate Quality Gems now have the base Quality effect found on the respective Gem. Quality now causes Runes to have +0-10% more Area of Effect for each time they have been Improved, instead of providing 0-10% increased Cast Speed.
