Necropolis league was a challenge league. It launched on March 29, 2024 as part of Path of Exile: Necropolis in version 3.24.0.[1]
League mechanic
Players will meet Undertaker Arimor, who will give you the Lantern of Arimor. You can use the Lantern before you enter a zone, revealing types of monsters that will appear in the zone, as well as a modifier attached to them. These modifiers cause monsters to be haunted, enhancing them in various ways, and can be rearranged to have them affect a different monster. Sometimes, the modifiers will cause monsters to become Devoted instead, providing beneficial bonuses when killed. Devoted monsters appear more often the more haunted monsters you kill.
Haunted monsters will sometimes spawn with Unresolved Anguish, allowing their corpses to be collected and sent to the Necropolis. You can bury these corpses at the Necropolis to add its attached crafting modifier to the Tome of Arimor, which will consume all buried corpses to create a random rare equipment, or a unique item with a certain set of corpses.
In addition, Haunted monsters can drop an Ember of the Allflame, which can be used on the Lantern to convert a monster into a different type. Monsters from the Allflame Ember have special effects, such as granting increased experience, turning them into harmless frogs, or being able to drop tattoos.
