Crucible League was a challenge league. It launched on April 7, 2023, as part of Path of Exile: Crucible in version 3.21.0. It ended on August 15, 2023.

League Mechanic

In this league, a Crucible Forge can be found in zones. With it, you can select one of your equipped non-Unique weapon or shield (including ones in your weapon swap slots) or the left and top-most equipment, then you can begin channeling power into the Forge. The longer you hold your channel, the more enemies it spawns. After killing all the monsters spawned by the Crucible Forge, it grants experience towards the equipment's Crucible Passive Skill Tree.

The Crucible Passive Skill Tree is unlocked for equipment used on the forge and contain a small branch of passive skills that enhance your weapon. Leveling up your weapon allows you to allocate a connected passive skill of the next depth. You can only allocate one passive from each tier.

Crucible encounters may sometimes drop a currency that can be opened to reveal a Primeval Remnant that opens portals to the Forge of the Titans. Completing it will allow you to use the Forge to sacrifice one item of the same item type to combine its Crucible Passive Tree with another, with some unpredictable changes, including adding exclusive mods not found normally. Higher levels Remnants can allow you to add a Crucible Passive Tree to Unique items or sacrifice a duplicate Unique item to combine both of their Crucible Passive Trees.

Ladders

In Crucible league, players could choose to enable any of these optional game modes:

• Hardcore (HC)
• Solo Self-Found (SSF)
• Ruthless (R)

This means that there were eight distinct ladders for Crucible league:
