In the darkest corners of Wraeclast, giant spiders can always be found. Or, rather, they find you.

The skeletons swarm, hurling orbs of fire and hacking away. Through sheer force of numbers, they push you back to the ledge of a dark abyss. All around you is death in this dark, forsaken church, and Death wants you for his armies. Somehow, you manage to repel the skeletons, reaving through their desiccated bones with great sweeping arcs of your staff. Their bones, no longer animated by unholy magics, shatter and hit the ground: music to the ears of a desperate exile. As you listen to the clattering of the last skeleton's bones hitting the ground, you hear another sound, not one of dry bones on ancient rock but one of life. Something skitters in the dark depths. The sound is joined by many others and then a chitinous leg appears from the chasm. It scrabbles on the hard stone until it finds a hold, and then it is joined by three others, then by a head. Eyes glint out, too many to be natural. The spider moves up onto the ground, larger than a man. You begin to move backwards, away from the beast but at the sound of more legs moving in the pit, you turn and flee. Just in time, for a whole host of arachnids now pour out of this tunnel to hell, hungry for your flesh. Safety is only an illusion in Wraeclast.
