Invasion league was a challenge league that ran concurrently with Ambush league. Invasion league used the hardcore rules for character death, while Ambush league used standard rules.[1] Both leagues launched on March 5, 2014 as part of Path of Exile: Sacrifice of the Vaal in version 1.1.0. Both leagues ended on July 5, 2014.

In this league all areas had been invaded by monsters from all over Wraeclast. A unique Invasion Boss from an invading monster type was also lurking in each level. Higher difficulty levels contained expanded monster variety and invading bosses with more abilities.

Invasion league had the Hardcore (HC) game mode always enabled.
