Vaal Summon Skeletons is a vaalspell that summons an army of skeletons, led by a skeleton general.
One of several general variants will be randomly summoned on cast.
Aura General: Skeleton General that wears armor, somewhat similar to Vaal Fallen. Has an Aura that grants 10% of physical damage as extra fire damage.[1]
Melee General: Skeleton General that wields a mace. It has melee splash attacks that are slow but deal high damage.
Archer General: Skeleton General that uses a bow. It can use the Rain of Arrows ability.
Mage General: Skeleton General that doesn't use weapons. It mainly casts Summon Raging Spirit.
This skill works with the passive skills that increase the maximum number of skeletons. But like Summon Skeletons it does not gain an increase in the amount spawned at each use. If one were to cast the ability while it is still in effect its behavior is similar to Summon Skeletons; first it spawns new skeletons up to the cap, then it start replacing the oldest one. When replacing, no consideration is taken to what kind of skeleton is summoned or replaced. Hence it's possible to have two generals at a (short) time. At gem level 20 with all passives and no unique items the chance is 6/(36+6).
As with the normal counterpart, Summon Skeletons, the summoned skeletons do not follow you and cannot be summoned with Convocation. The damage and life scaling values for minions have been adjusted. Generally speaking, minion life and damage is unchanged in the very early game, roughly 30% lower in mid acts, roughly 20% lower at level 20 of the minion skill, and roughly 10% lower at level 30 of the minion skill.
Vaal Skill Gems can now only be obtained from a set of specific methods such as Corrupting Gems, Vaal Side Areas, Divination Cards (that specifically grant Vaal Skill Gems) and the Lapidary Lens in the Temple of Atzoatl.
Alberon's WarpathAlberon's Warpath
will make Skeleton Warriors summoned by non-Vaal Summon Skeletons permanent and follow you, this does not apply to skeletons summoned by Vaal Summon Skeletons.
