Skill functions and interactions

  • Vortex is an instant spell; it has no cast time and does not interrupt your character's other actions.
  • The Vortex consists of two parts: explosion and a ground effect.
  • Stacking: If an enemy is standing over multiple vortex ground effects,only the one with the highest damage per second will cause damage at any given moment. This is consistent with other damage over time ground effects, such as caustic cloud and burning ground.
  • Modifiers to Spell Damage apply to this skill's Damage Over Time Effect: Modifiers to spell damage only apply to the ground effect portion of the skill and do not affect other sources of damage over time which may be applied by the explosion, such as poison, the Decay Support, or ignite from The Three Dragons.

Right click to remove from a socket.     and subsequently cast Vortex to trigger a Vortex at the location of the Frostbolt projectile and up to four other nearby Frostbolts. When Vortex is cast this way, it's area of effect is lessened by 20%.
  • Because the initial explosion counts as a hit, Vortex can be used with the Curse On Hit Support to curse enemies in an AoE around your character at instant speed (i.e. without interrupting other actions like attacking, casting, or movement).
