Awakener's Orb is a currency item. Using it on an item destroys the item, and allows the player to apply the item's influence to another item of the same item class. The second item is then reforged as a rare item with both influence types and new modifiers.

Spending

Awakener's orbs are spent by right-clicking the orb, clicking a donor item, and then clicking a target item. The target item's base type, sockets, and links are retained. The reforged item has the donor's influence as the left icon, and the target's influence as the right icon. For purposes of items such as Mark of the Elder or The Eternity Shroud, only the donor/left influence is checked.[1] It is unclear whether this is intentional.

One signature mod (such as a "Shaper's" prefix, or an "Of the Elder" suffix) from each item is guaranteed to merge on the new item. These mods can be both prefixes, suffixes, or a combination. If an the items has two or more signature mods, one will be selected at random during the merging process. Notably, while some signature mods of the same type will merge together correctly (such as Shaper and Redeemer #% reduced Mana Reserved on amulets)[2], other mods (such as Shaper Socketed Gems are Supported by Level # Power Cast While Channelling and Elder Socketed Gems are Supported by Level # Inspiration on staves) are mutually exclusive and one will be discarded at random.[3]

Item acquisition

Awakener's Orb has restrictions on where or how it can drop.
