Spending
Orbs of Annulment are used in item crafting, and are especially useful to improve good items with one undesired modifier. Using these orbs is risky though, since the removed modifier is chosen completely randomly.
Interactions with Affixes
It has been hypothesised by the community that the chance of removing a mod from an item is not equal for every mod. It seems that the chance a mod is removed is seeded by the rarity of the mod. (e.g When using an Orb of Annulment on "Thunderhand's Quartz Wand of the Student" then you are more likely to remove the "of the Student" suffix because it is more common than the "Thunderhand's" prefix.
