Atziri, Queen of the Vaal is a boss residing in the Apex of Sacrifice (level 70) and in the Alluring Abyss (level 80). She is the main antagonist of the Sacrifice of the Vaal expansion.

Lore

She was the last queen of the Vaal civilization. She was extremely vain and held court in a room lined with mirrors. Atziri wished for eternal youth, inspired by the serial killer Zerphi living 168 years with a young body, and her thaumaturgist Doryani sacrificed countless victims trying to achieve this. Destroyed by the Cataclysm, she still lingers in a nightmare realm that is leaking corruption back into the land of Wraeclast.

Location

To reach the Apex of Sacrifice or the Alluring Abyss, the player needs to combine four Vaal Fragments (the sacrifice series or mortal series, respectively). There, Atziri and her four guardians (Vessel of the Vaal, Q'ura, Y'ara'az and A'alai) can be defeated.

Strategy

Queen Atziri is one of the most challenging bosses in the game, so high defences are an absolute must. Ruby Flasks are recommended. She has three forms:

First form

Initially, Atziri is alone. She cannot be ignited, shocked or ignited and resists elemental damage. Moreover, she reflects curses, meaning the player gets cursed as well. To counter this it can help to get flasks with the suffix "of Warding" because it removes all curses from the player and grants temporary curse immunity. This is the only time when Atziri is targetable. Her attacks are:

• An arc of spears that apply bleed. As a melee or close range attacker you'll probably have to tank this one. The damage from the puncture is not too high, so this shouldn't be a big problem.
• Flameblast, sometimes multiple blasts simultaneously. This one deals a large amount of fire damage, especially when she charges them up for a long time, or when they overlap. When she ignites you it also deals a decent amount of damage. Good mobility is important here: as soon as the flameblast begin to charge, it is advised to either use Leap Slam or a similar escape to get away, or to use a Ruby Flask.
• A lot of smaller Storm Calls. These can be devastating if damaged by many at the same time, but a few should be survivable.

Second form

Atziri shields herself, rendering herself untargetable. She summons minions that walk towards her and heal her when they reach her. The minions will not attack the player. Atziri's energy shield will recharge while shielding. The best way keep the minions from healing her is to stand as close to Atziri as possible and use an Area of Effect skill to clear the minions as fast as possible. This is by far the safest phase and a good time for refilling flasks, regenerating life, recharging energy shield or to curse Atziri and immediately removing it with your flask.

Third form

Atziri summons four copies of herself. This phase happens at fixed intervals: only when she loses a quarter of her life (so at 75%, 50% and 25%). If the minions heal her back to one of those life levels, she will not do this phase again. Atziri is not targetable in this form. One of the four copies needs to be defeated first:

• One holds a spear in her hand that deals bleeding damage over time.
• One has fire on her hand and uses Flameblast.
• One has lightning on her hand and uses Storm Call.
• One has a mirror and reflects a high amount of damage. Very dangerous, not advised to attack.
