Mechanics

  • 50% chance to Trigger Socketed Spells:
    • Each time you use a skill and spend 100 or more mana to pay its cost, there is a 50% chance all socketed spells will trigger.
    • If multiple of the same spell skill gem are socketed, they will share a cooldown. Only one will trigger.
  • when you Spend at least 100 Mana:
    • 100 or more mana must be spent in order to trigger socketed spells.
      • 100 mana must be spent all at once, not across multiple uses.
      • Skills that spend life via Blood Magic or energy shield via Eldritch Battery will not trigger socketed spells.

        Physical Damage: (163.2-190.4) to (264-308)
        Critical Strike Chance: 5.00%
        Attacks per Second: (1.80-1.88)
        Weapon Range: 1.1 metres
Requires Level 59, 119 Str, 82 Dex(140-180)% increased Physical Damage
Adds 30 to 40 Physical Damage
        (20-25)% increased Attack Speed

Insufficient Mana doesn't prevent your Melee Attacks
        Your Physical Damage can Chill
It is too easy for the soul to escape from an open heart.
or other methods that avoid spending mana will not trigger socketed spells.
      • Mana reservation cannot trigger socketed spells.
      • Spending mana on trigger costs can trigger socketed spells.
  • Use a Skill:
    • Channeled skills with a mana cost of 100 or above can only trigger spells with the initial cast. This is because Kitava's Thirst triggers when spending mana to use a skill, not to maintain an already-used skill.[1][2]
  • Targeting
    • Triggered spells will target a nearby target. The triggered spells will not necessarily target the same location or enemy targeted by the original skill.
    • If there are no nearby potential targets, the casts will target randomly.

Strategy

There are several methods that can be used to raise the cost of skills to help Kitava's Thirst trigger its socketed spells more regularly and expand the list of usable skills that can trigger this unique. Rapid cast or attacking abilities are preferred when using Kitava's Thirst to increase the likeliness of socketed spells triggering. Because of the high mana cost needed, several spells and most attack skills struggle to reach the 100 mana threshold, however there are a few ways to increase their cost:

Channeled skills are the fastest skills, but they activate the cast only once per use (if the mana cost is sufficient), so the player has to start channeling and end channeling rapidly, which is tedious but possible.

Mana consumption of a character using Kitava's Thirst offensively is huge. On average, one needs to spend 200 mana for one activation and the cost of the triggered socketed spells also need to be paid.
