Eldritch Battery (often referred to as EB) is a keystone passive skill that makes energy shield protect mana instead of life.

  Lifetap lasts +(0.1-2) secondsThis is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket., this does not change mana costs into energy shield costs. The player still pays a mana cost, and can modify that cost with mana cost modifiers.
• Energy shield recharge is not interrupted by energy shield spent to pay costs. Unless interrupted by damage to mana or energy shield, energy shield will continually recharge.

Eldritch Battery also removes the inherent 50% chance to ignore stun while you have energy shield even when energy shield can still take damage by protecting mana.
