Archmage Support is a support gem that adds lightning damage to the supported skill, based on the caster's unreserved maximum mana, with the downside of also adding an additional mana cost.

Skill functions and interactions

Triggered spell skills: Archmage will support triggered spells normally. This includes spells with no original mana cost and spells that cannot be cast directly. As long as the spell is NOT casted by things other than you it will receive increased manacost and added damage.

Note: Archmage is considered by game to be able to support only skill gems and not other support gems. However, if a spell skill is granted directly by a support gem then it may be supported if not restricted by Archmage itself.

Therefore when you hover a cursor in a fully linked piece of equipment over support gem that directly grants you spell skill, it will NOT be highlighted as supported by an Archmage support gem. This is only a visual interaction. To check if it is actually supports this skill or not go to the character screen.
