Shrapnel Ballista of Steel is a bow attack skill. It summons a ballista totem that fires an arrow in a cone that impales targets. Its damage scales on the player's bow damage. This skill consumes Steel Shards from Call of Steel to have each totem fire additional arrows.

Changes from default version

Unlike the original skill, this transfigured version grants the Call of Steel skill, which is used to generate Steel Shards. This skill consumes 1 Steel Shard to summon a totem that fires additional arrows, otherwise the totem will only fire one projectile. The skill has higher damage effectiveness and gains an additional chance to impale.

Skill functions and interactions

Additional Projectiles: If you use the skill without any Steel Shards, it will always launch only one projectile, even if you have additional projectiles from other sources.

Ballista: Shrapnel Ballista is part of the ballista sub-class of totems. Ballista totems have an inherent increase to maximum totem limit. They have a much shorter summoning range, spawning much closer to the summoner.

"Shotgunning": Shrapnel Ballista is capable of hitting a single enemy with more than one projectile from a single skill use. As such, this skill can be used to kill multiple targets or can be used to cause massive damage to a single enemy. Supported Skills deal (0.5-10)% increased Projectile DamageThis is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket., your Shrapnel Ballista will fire a payload arrow on an enemy's location, which upon landing fires all of its projectiles in a nova that can hit the enemy simultaneously (assuming the target does not move out of the way).

Returning Projectiles: Projectiles fired by shrapnel ballista have a limited duration; to ensure projectiles can return to hit the initial target, projectile speed will need to be increased by at least 300%.
